Modest fashion is a style that is growing widely now, and a lot of people are hopping on the train. Despite the fact that there is diversity now more than ever in the fashion industry, there is still a lot more work t be done in the modest fashion department.

For someone who is into modest fashion, getting ready for work can become a challenge in the morning, although I always advice laying your outfit a night before, that way you have one less thing to worry about in the morning. Oversized blazers are the new chic fashion essential every woman should have.

When I say over sized blazer, please don’t think of the dusty black faded blazer your professor used to wear back then that made them look like they have been living in the blazer.

That was very specific. I knoowww! I used to have one of those loool… I know what it looks like…. that’s not the kind of oversized blazer we are talking about. As a matter of fact, I will insert pictures, although I know you get it now.

As a Muslim girl stepping into the cooperate world, these oversized blazers became my best friends, because it was huge enough to keep me covered and modest, and by that I mean, it covered my bum and my hips, so you couldn’t see my body shape, making my outfits look a lot more modest.

Now let’s get into the fashion side of it. It is so stylish, it can take your outfit from a good 80% to a 120%.. yuup that stylish. 3. Kimono

Kimono is usually a light fabric you throw over your outfit. There are several reasons why one would wear a kimono, it could be as a fashion statement or to make your outfit more modest. A kimono being lighter comes in handy during the hot weather. If you have on an outfit that has no sleeves or has the back open, or maybe a little bit too tight and it’s hot outside, then you throw on your kimono. It covers up all that extra skin your cute summer outfit isn’t covering. A kimono allows you to look cute and still be covered.

A kimono can also be worn as a statement outfit. They are very trendy and can really tie up a basic look. Especially on the lazy days when you don’t want to put in all that extra effort in putting together an outfit. Kimonos are a must have for a girl boss like you. They make your outfits look so chic and modest at the same time. There are also several ways you can style a kimono, and because kimonos are usually oversized, size is not something to worry about. 4. Solid color skirt

Solid colors in general are essentials for the cooperate life. For a modest dresser, wearing long skirts seems more likely, given how much of your body it covers. But long loose skirts can very easily be a little too casual for the office space, which is why I always recommend investing in some solid color skirts. The solid colors come off a bit more serious, which is an emphasis you mean business. You don’t want to end up looking like you are about to go for a picnic at the office. It looks a lot more professional if your long loose skirt is a solid color. Here are some pictures to give you a little inspiration;

5. Solid color dress/ jumpsuit

We have all heard the saying, ”you can never go wrong with a black dress”. Well actually I modified it a bit, it’s ”you can never go wrong with a little black dress”. But the point is, it’s one color, and you can’t go wrong with it, because it’s just one color. And wearing one color garment, be it a dress or a jumpsuit can be very elegant. For a long dress especially, it can very easily look a little too out of place at work, if it’s filled with floral and pattern.

When picking a jumpsuit or a dress up for work, try to stick with solid colors. It gives you that girl boss vibe. Here are some pictures to give you a little inspiration;
